You are invited to the Dinner Educational Program "Exhaust Vents – Good intensions that fell short" on Wednesday, March 19th from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Zio Fraedo's in Pleasant Hill.

Just about every reroofing job involves flashing vents of some kind. We know what to do with attic vents, plumbing vents, and “hot pipes” but what about environmental vents? To make matters worse, it isn’t always clear what kind of vent we’re looking at or if the vent was properly installed in the first place. Unless we figure out what needs to be done up front, exhaust vents risk being improperly terminated and flashed with potentially terrible condensation results or worse.

Learning Objectives - By the end of this presentation attendees will better understand:

  • Why complete venting of gas combustion products and warm-humid air from bathrooms and kitchens is so important.
  • Tips for figuring out what type of vent you’re looking at.
  • Common vent termination and flashing mistakes.
  • What are Type B, Type BW, Type L and Single-Wall vents.
  • Code requirements for terminating, caping, and flashing gas vents.
  • Code requirements for terminating, connecting, and flashing environmental vents.
  • Ways to avoid pictures of one of your jobs being shown at a WESTCON Technical Dinner meeting.
