About This Meeting
Our 2022 Calendar will be previewed at this meeting, and additional networking and business development opportunities will be featured prior to the evening’s presentation.
Our meeting presentation will focus on Single Ply Roof Assembly issues (insulation, coverboards, and membranes) for construction projects in Northern California. Attendees will learn the importance of Manufacturers’ Roof Assembly Letters as a minimum installation standard for warranty requirements required by the manufacturer. Also covered in this presentation are roof drainage assembly issues, insulation, coverboards, and membrane fastening requirements.
The presenter will show, with personal examples, what can go wrong if the roof designer is not careful or the consultant is not observant of real-world installations. There will be an emphasis on new construction projects in the Bay Area and on how to avoid potential installation issues. The information provided in this presentation also pertains to re-roof projects and is not for new construction projects only.
Manufacturers, Architects, Contractors, and Consultants will benefit from the information provided as roof assembly issues are illustrated. The presenter will suggest ways to prevent problematic installations.

About Our Speaker
Robert Hemphill is a Building Envelope Consultant with Aquatech Consultancy, Inc., Walnut Creek, CA. After 21 years as a California State Licensed Contractor, Robert became a manufacturer’s representative for roofing and waterproofing materials before joining Aquatech Consultancy, Inc. as a building envelope consultant.
Robert is an International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants, (IIBEC), Registered Building Enclosure Consultant (one of three in California) having achieved the Registered Roof Consultant, Registered Waterproofing Consultant and Registered Building Enclosure Consultant credentials. Robert is a Construction Specification Institute (CSI), Certified Document Technologist.
Hemphill is a past WestCon Vice President and a member of AIA East Bay, Asian American Architects and Engineers, CSI Oakland, CSI San Francisco, and Western States Roofing Contractors Association.
