About This Meeting:


This presentation examines roof projects where seemingly innocent changes led to problems.  All of which, with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, were avoidable. 

By the end of the presentation, attendees will be equipped, vicariously, with the “hindsight” needed to avoid problems related to:

a. Plasticizer Migration - Installing PVC membranes in direct contact with some rigid board insulations.

b. Temporary Protection “Nightmares” - Contracting roof removal work separately from roof installation work.

c. Compromised Fire Ratings - Substituting one insulation for another that ends up not being fire rated.

d. Chemical Incompatibility - Installing PVC membranes in direct contact with some self-adhering membranes.

About Our Speaker 

Phil Dregger is a Professional Engineer, Registered Roof Consultant, Fellow of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (formerly RCI), and Vice President of Salas O’Brien in Concord, CA.  Phil has investigated problems in a wide range of roof and building envelop systems.  He has special expertise in wind damage, building code compliance, and condensation problems.  Phil lectures often to industry groups, has authored many articles on roof technology, and is a recipient of the ASTM D08 William C Cullen Award and the IIBEC/RCI Lifetime Achievement Award.
