About This Meeting:

 The Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR) is a prefabricated reinforcement consisting of a series of cold-worked steel wires that are resistance-welded together in square or rectangular grids by continuous automatic welders, and is one of the recognized and established forms of concrete reinforcement. Its history dates back to United States patents issued in 1901 (Richardson 2000) covering the production of wires welded with this method. Extensive use was made of WWR in the Empire State Building and World Trade Towers in New York, and the Marina City Towers and Standard Oil Building in Chicago. The interstate highway system was also constructed using an extensive amount of WWR in the 1950s and 1960s, and WWR continues to be used today in many transportation and structural applications. These applications of WWR were driven by the need to execute projects faster and more cost effectively. WWR had been used in many projects in California from precast, tilt-up and cast-in place building construction. With the current shortage of labor force, many if not all, had been considering the option to use WWR in lieu of the traditional rebar.

At this meeting you will:

1. Understand legal parameters of liability of design professionals to end-users of residential buildings;

2. Understand standards of design professional liability under the Builders’ Right to Repair Act, Civil Code 895 et. seq.

3. Gain insights on practical ways to mitigate unnecessary liability;

4. Understand issues related to “wrap” policies, design exclusions, wrap exclusions; and design/build arrangements

If registering after the Monday before the meeting, please call (916) 485-6350 to register. Registrations after the Monday before the meeting and walk-ins will be assessed an additional $10 charge, have no guarantee of a meal choice, and given a white meal ticket.
